We all know people who ooze a certain value. For example, you have the Captain America type who believes in the good of all. Or you have the Tony Stark who clearly believes in science and brainpower. You probably knew this before you even knew the character themselves.

We all know someone that values something so deeply that it’s part of their personality. Regardless of the value, there are people who are experts at picking a trait and thriving through it.

What do all of the people have in common?

It’s not actually the values themselves, it’s the fact that…

In 2019, the self-development industry was valued at 38.28 billion dollars. And it’s only expected to grow even further. One would think that the collective conscious would be at a better state. So why are we not?

Personal growth has become a trendy topic that ignores what it takes to actually achieve success. It’s an industry that has been commercialized. It has simply, for many, become a hot button topic that gives a sense of security.

Security is much needed. But here’s the dirty secret- it’s a false sense of security and it doesn’t last.

Because it’s a trend…

We don’t have to talk about how awful a year 2020 was (because, like yeah obviously), but what we should talk about is how incredibly unique the year was.

Not only has there been a ridiculous amount of major events, celebrity deaths, and natural disasters, but a refreshing shift in energy of all people.

It seems like no matter where you look, people have been deeply impacted this past year. In an observable way, clearly, and also in an internal, energetic, and transformative way.

Transformative is how I would describe 2020.

At the beginning of the year I was no…

No, this isn’t a story of how to use ketchup in your next dish or if Heinz is really the best (disclaimer: it totally is). This is the story of undoing outside damage. It’s my story of strength that comes from the simplest things.

If you have ever been in a toxic environment you know how your attitude, beliefs, fears, and thoughts stem from the negativity that surrounds your life. You also might know how the smallest things can spark change. In my case, it started with a packet of ketchup and a striped shirt.

My Story

My story starts…

Sex is a taboo topic, but it shouldn’t be.

I actually never had a sex talk. In fact, it took my mom three beers and a shot of Fireball before she was ready to hear me say I lost my virginity. I think this is where my discomfort of sex originated from. This was hard because, well, I like sex.

Talking about sex is not easy, but it should be. Especially for women, sex is taboo. Ladies shouldn’t talk about sex. Sex is for men.

Well, that’s really quite ridiculous.

You’d think after talking with your mom about sex it…

Your health is only as good as your relationships, and your relationships are only as good as your communication. Humans are social creatures. As herd animals, making connections is vital to our well being. As Bean Robinson, Ph. D, puts it there seems to be a real need; the connection is scary but it’s how we bond.

There is a direct correlation between your relationships and your health. If you have positive and healthy relationships, you are going to be healthy. The opposite is also true. Communication is going to be what affects the nature of your relationships,

Good Relationships, Good Health

My boyfriend and I are planning on moving in together at the end of the year. So, when COVID19 hit and we were both sent to work from home, my first thought was okay, a test run. I worked from his house for 3 days in a row and then sporadically after that. The first day was great, I hadn’t seen him for awhile and we weren’t spending as much time together as we normally would. We sat next to each other on the couch with our knees touching and I adored the extra kisses.

The second and third day…

When I settled on my degree in communications, it was honestly based on the fact that I had no idea what I wanted to do and I figured, hey, you have to communicate no matter what, right? Well, I was mostly right. What I didn’t know was how important, deep, and constant communication is. Can you think of any job, activity, event, or interaction that doesn’t involve communication? Probably not. Even if you can, I bet that by the time you finish reading this, you’ll change your mind.

What is communication?

There are two lenses that I like to look…
